Argen's Refining Process

Sending Your Scrap to Argen

The refining process begins when you ship your dental scrap to Argen via FedEx. Argen pays all shipping costs and insures your shipment at no extra charge. Upon receipt we carefully photo document the contents of your package under strict security protocol and email a confirmation of your package's arrival with an estimated date of completion. Most settlements will be ready within 10 business days.

The Melting Process

In preparation for the first melt, a disk mill is used to crush the scrap, and proprietary flux is added to extract even the smallest particles of precious metals. After the first melt, the materials are cooled, the slag is removed and the metals are placed back inside an induction furnace for a second melt.

Vacuum Pin Tube Method

After being melted a second time, a small sample it taken via capillary action through a narrow glass cylinder, called a vacuum pin tube. The sample cools instantly and is then cut into three sections for processing. Using an induction furnace ensures a homogeneous melt and an accurate representative sample.

ICP Machine - State of the Art Technology

These precise samples are dissolved by expert chemists before being analyzed by our ICP machine. The Inductively Coupled Plasma machine, or ICP for short, is the most powerful and accurate assaying machine in the world. It uses the power of a plasma flame to split electrons.
